If you have the heart and mind to join one of our salon teams and to learn the trade of hairdressing, contact the manager at your nearest salon for full details about what is involved.
Training with John Olivers
Most salons start recruiting 16 year olds (school leavers) in January for training schemes which start in July of the same year.
We also offer work experience schemes with local schools.
John Olivers outsource NVQ theory/practical training to a training provider of our choice. Practical training is also carried out in the salons.
The philosophy that we operate is to provide quality hairdressing training. John Olivers has always regarded training and development as an essential means to achieving high standards, meeting and exceeding those expected within the hairdressing industry.
John Olivers' Apprenticeships
The apprenticeship offered at John Olivers is a 2/3 year, work based, fixed term contract. This is a full time training position (39 hours per week) in which you can achieve both NVQ Levels 1 & 2.
The training will be provided by John Olivers salons and the NVQ training outsourced (currently with the Anglian Academy of Hair). At the end of your training contract, and if you are offered the opportunity to become a full time Stylist/Technician, you will be asked to undertake the John Olivers pre-floor test.
Once fully qualified to John Olivers' own high standards, staff are given the opportunity to continue their training to achieve NVQ Level 3. There are also other training opportunities both in-house with Senior Stylists, Product Manufacturers and also other training academies e.g. Vidal Sassoon, Goldwell Academy, L'Oréal etc who offer courses with award winning celebrity stylists.
What we expect from our Trainees
Here at John Olivers, we provide the highest standard of training. In return we expect your commitment to quality and real dedication throughout your training apprenticeship.
We also expect the following:
- High standards of personal appearance

Models
All trainees are responsible for providing their own models, a must for all practical training sessions. During your trainee apprenticeship it is anticipated that you will need over 100 models in order for you to reach your full potential. Without models it will be impossible to reach your full potential and meet the obligations of model procedure.
In return, our aim is to motivate and inspire you, give you the skills to reach your highest level possible and achieve your maximum professional growth. We will offer a clear career path and the opportunity to use the skills you develop in our award winning salons.
